Who says a family portrait session has to be stiff and boring? These photos are a great illustration of how a portrait session can evolve into something special. When Amber brought her son in for some special pictures of just the two of them, I wanted to create something that was a little more than just a portrait of the two of them. I wanted to capture the unique relationship that all mothers have with their children. At first her little boy was a bit shy and reserve, but with a little time, (and a small bribe of candy) he warmed up and started to show off how cute he and she are together. Originally photographed in color, I felt, and Amber agreed, that black and white with a subtle toning of sepia was exactly how the portraits should be displayed. So here are the finished images. Displayed in her home, four down, in a matted frame. And when it comes time for their next portrait session, I hope they’ll call me agin…
